I'm with Anthony on the top left version. Well balanced, attractive, etc.
As for inlaying in the EIR, that piece doesn't look all that light--at least on my monitor. I've inlaid things in lighter looking rosewood than what you've pictured.
Stew-Mac sells a brown powder that matches rosewood color perfectly. (Can't think of the name off hand.) Mix it with your epoxy or CA, and what little voids you'll have will virtually disappear.

I really like the looks of this guitar. Not too "austere" at all. Not even "Spartan". I'd say "elegant in its simplicity".

Steve

Guess what my vote goes for bottom left hand corner!

Right now I'm down to the Pub, Handy living on a village green with the pub on the opposite corner!

I completely agree with your wife. I wanted to suggest that but thought
you wanted it higher. I believe the top left is the best, but a fret low.

It's not austere at all! It looks really great.

Colin,

I don't know how I'd get any building done if I were that close to a pub! Probably could get a lot of opinions, just like here, though!

Many thanks for the responses. I think I'm going with the top left one. Funny thing, my wife has changed her mind (I'm NOT going to comment in case she reads this! ) and prefers the one on the top right over the top left, which was her idea.

This has been a great way to see how this little guitar will look when it's done. I can play around with headstock shape, tuner plating, pickguard, burst , etc.

Either one of the top two would look great. I'd like the small bamboo inlay on the headstock if there were none on the fingerboard. It's looks a bit redundant if it's in two places.

Carlton,

Thanks for the feedback. And I agree. I just didn't go to the trouble of removing the HS one.

Steve,

Thanks for your kind words and input. I looked up the SM products. They're Behlen's Master furniture powders that come in a variety of opaque colors. I'll be using them. I was also a little apprehensive about inlaying in EIR as it's softer than ebony. The few times I've tried to work it by hand, I had trouble with it when doing delicate work. I tried Joe's idea with CA, but got inconsistent penetration and it darkened the wood. It does show some promise, though.

After experimenting in some scrap, I've concluded that I just have to be more careful on the intricate areas. It takes less effort to cut than ebony, owing to its softness relative to ebony, but requires more care.

Yup, that's the stuff.
Remember, we want pictures...you might as well chronicle the inlay job step by step.

Bottom left for me. I can't wait to see this one finished!
